Old Mobile Highway Bridge Closed

City of Pascagoula was notified by Jackson County officials on Tuesday, August 1 that Old Mobile Highway’s (OMH) bridge east of Martin Street must be closed immediately beginning Wednesday, August 2, due to structural insufficiency. The bridge closed at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. City officials encourage citizens to proceed in this area with caution. The City of Pascagoula will continue to share information as it becomes available.

City Council Continues to Strive Toward Business Friendly Community

Pascagoula’s City Council is continuing to support businesses in the community by inviting them to participate in the city council meetings. Those who choose to submit information will be highlighted under the ‘Business Spotlight’ section of the agenda.
During the ‘Business Spotlight,’ the Mayor will announce the businesses highlighted that week while the business’s logo is on display. A representative of the business would be invited to attend the meeting.

“The City Council and I would like to promote the various options that can be found in Pascagoula,” said Mayor Dane Maxwell. “We are Pascagoula, and we want to make sure we are supporting our local economy by supporting our local businesses. This is just another step for our city to be pro-business.”

‘Business Spotlight’ will begin at the City Council’s August 15 meeting. Businesses will need to submit information through the city’s website,

Beach Pier Plaza to Open Saturday

The Beach Pier Plaza will open on Saturday, August 5th from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The pier was closed earlier this summer for renovations. The new Beach Pier will have a large plaza style boardwalk, at the same height as the existing promenade, with composite decking.  The plaza will include low-level lighting, picnic areas, landscaping, pedestals for public art and an ADA access ramp to the water. There will also be a new entrance on the south side of Beach Park for ADA access to the promenade path and sand for people of all abilities. The pier will close at night due to a technical difficulties with lights on the pier. Utility Partners's electricians will work tomorrow to get the short repaired. 

Seeking Volunteers for City Events

The City of Pascagoula is seeking volunteers for the 2017 'Goula Cruise event, October 5-7 and 2017 Battle on Buffett Beach on Saturday, December 2. If you are interested in volunteering for either event, please contact the city.
