Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is responsible for administration of the City's classification and pay plans, recruitment program, employee orientation and exit procedures, benefits administration, training and development, performance management, and payroll.

SCHOOL PATROL/CROSSING GUARDS
PT, $15.0277/hr. Approximately 5 hours per week during school year. Must have a valid State of MS driver's license and pass a physical exam/drug test.  Directs traffic in conjunction with movement of children to and from school. Must work in inclement weather throughout school year.  Applications are accepted ongoing for this position and appointments are made based on when vacancies become available.

DETENTION OFFICER
Salary Range:
$21,381.77 - $31,775.41 Detention officer performs general security work in the municipal jail; performs any other duties as assigned by the City Manager or Supervisor.
  Work involves responsibility for maintaining order and acting as custodian of the municipal jail facilities and the safeguarding and care of the prisoners housed in the facility.  Detailed instruction and general supervision are received from the Administrative Captain, Deputy Chief, or Chief of Police, to whom unusual cases requiring decisions are immediately reported. 

POLICE OFFICER
Salary Range: $27,545.71 - $40,935.64

AFTER SCHOOL COUNSELOR
The City of Pascagoula is seeking an applicant for this position. Applicant must be able to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm until 5:30 pm and all day on school holidays.  Applicant must be able to drive a 15 passenger van.  Pay is $7 per hour.

TEMPORARY COMBINATION INSPECTOR
This position is responsible for inspection work in connection with the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, Sign Ordinance, and other codes relating to the appearance & cleanliness of the City.  Requires the ability to enforce regulations with firmness, tact and impartiality in all city neighborhoods.  Considerable construction and public contact experience preferred.   This job is temporary Full Time, $25,000.00 a year.  Must have a valid driver’s license. City of Pascagoula Summer Jobs for Students
Must be a high school or college student and possess a valid driver’s license.  
Pool Manager – (l) - $9.00/HR, must be at least 21, will manage day-to-day pool activities, schedule group/staff swim lessons. 
Assistant Pool Manager – (1) - $8.25/HR, must be at least 21 with some experience in life-guarding and swim instructions.  
Lifeguards – (6) - $7.00/HR, must be at least 16.  
Red Cross certification is required for all pool positions.

SUMMER JOB HELP WANTED

$7.00 AN HOUR

URBAN YOUTH CORPS PROJECT

 

The City of Pascagoula is seeking applications for the "2008 Urban Youth Corps Project".  Young people ages 16 through 25 years, who are full-time high school or college students may apply.

 

This Project is for 12 weeks starting June and ending in August 2008.  The project involves landscaping and tree planting on major city corridors.

 

Applicants may submit applications at Pascagoula City Hall, 603 Watts Avenue in the Human Resources Department, between 8:00 and 5:00 p.m.   EOE
