Police Explorer Post 534

REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN

We at the Pascagoula Police Explorer Post are looking for males and females who want to be part of our organization. We want people who are eager to learn about police work. People who want to learn about leadership and service to the community. High school students in the Honors program can use their service in the Explorer Post as part of their community service hours required for graduation.

Who are we looking for?

  • Males & Females
  • Ages 15 to 20
  • No major criminal records
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Enrolled in basic or honors courses
  • Be able to attend weekly Tuesday night meetings
  • Must serve 8 hours of community service with the Post each month.
  • Must be able to arrange transportation to the weekly meetings or events.
  • Someone who can be a team player within a paramilitary organization.
  • Someone who has the desire to learn and be dedicated & loyal to the Explorer program.

The Pascagoula Police Explorer POST 534 meets every second and fourth Thursdays at 1800 hours at the Pascagoula Police Department 611 Live Oak Ave., Pascagoula , MS .

All perspective Explorers attend an orientation on either the 1st or 3rd Tuesday until the background and entrance exam has been completed.

The meetings generally last from one and a half to two hours.  At the meetings an Explorer advisor will meet with you to answer any questions you might have and help you with the application process.

If you meet the qualifications for an Explorer, you will receive an application form, background form.  After the successful completion of the background process, and an oral interview you will become a Probationary Explorer.  The Recruit will be placed on probation for three months. During the probation period you must attend all meetings and compete 8 hours of community service each month. After the probation period the post will issue a uniform and gear at no cost.
