MAILING LIST UPDATE – Please take time to read the enclosed page very carefully.  It involves everyone on our mailing list.  Please follow all instructions and call if you have any questions.   There are too many wonderful things about to happen in our new SENIOR CENTER for you NOT to be a part of our mailing list!

 

What a trip we had this past Friday for our “Lunch Bunch” outing!  We visited historic, downtown Gulfport including the newly renovated city hall and 4 art galleries; Bella Blue, Williams, Dimensions and the Galleria.  We also spent time at the ‘Sock Hop’ with the Biloxi seniors and had an Italian lunch at Salute’.  Wonder what’s on the horizon for this month!  Hint:  We are going to go ‘high’ then look at something panoramic.

 

LUNCH BUNCH FOR OCTOBER – Friday, October 30.  Cost:  $20.  Payment finalizes registration.

 

Fall Wreath Making Class – This one-time class will be at the center on Wednesday, October 21.

10am-Noon.   Cost $20 and includes all supplies for a completed, 14-16” wreath, ready to hang.  Must pre-register by October 16.   Payment finalizes registration.  Make payments either in person or by mail.  New shipment of products from HOBBY LOBBY for this project.

 

Knitting/Crochet – Class meet each Thursday, from 1-2pm.  Everyone is welcome!  Come share your stitches or learn something new.

 

Beginners’ Line Dancing – Class meets Monday 9-10am.  New students join each week.

 

Intermediate Line Dancing – Class meets Thursday 9-10am.  For more experienced dancers.

 

Bible Study – Class meets each Thursday 10-11am.

Join any Thursday.

 

Conversational Spanish – Class meets each Friday from 10-Noon.  New students each week.  (Fee)

 

CONGRATULATOINS are in order….

Our boss, Darcie Crew, Pascagoula’s Director of Parks and Recreation, was recognized by the Mississippi P&R Association as the 2009 Municipal Recreation Professional of the Year at the State Conference last week.  What an award for our department as well as the City of Pascagoula!

She shared the credit with all of her employees including those of us at the Senior Center.  Thanks, Darcie and congratulations!

 

Harrison County Senior Prom   This event is Wednesday, November 18, 6-9pm.  We have a limited number of  tickets @ $10 each.  The event is at the I.P. in Biloxi.  Transportation will be provided from the senior center leaving at 5pm.

Payment finalizes registration.  Deadline to pay is Friday, October 9.

 

OLD SETTLERS DAY @ the JACKSON COUNTY FAIR – Thursday, October 22.  Call if you would like to ride with us.  We will visit the exhibits, participate in the ceremony, use our lunch vouchers and return to the center by 2pm.  Call right away to ride with us or you can meet us there.

 

ZONTA FESTIVAL – This has always been one of our favorite events of the year.  It is this Saturday, October 3, all day long, in downtown Pascagoula.  It is a wonderful opportunity to visit the downtown businesses as well as the many food and arts/crafts booths.  We will have fresh coffee, Taco Soup, Ms. Bea’s sweet ice tea and lots of fellowship throughout the day.  Our UPBEAT  LINE DANCERS  will take center stage this year as invited guests of the event organizers.  They held their première performance one year ago to the day.

Congratulations to our own UPBEAT LINE DANCERS!  Performance time is 2:20pm.  They will meet in the center at 1:45pm.

 

YOGA – Class meets Thursday 2:00-3:00pm.  There is a fee.  Join anytime! (Fee charged)

 

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS – 1st Tues of each month; Danielle with Canon Hospice.

 

FALL TRIP – The group leaves for the Washington DC/Chesapeake Bay/Outer Banks on Oct. 5 and will return Oct. 13.  Please keep us in your prayers.     Happy Fall Ya’ll,                          Melani Caver & Staff
