Pirates of Pascagoula

Summer Camp 2008

 

Shiver me timbers! School is over and the adventure awaits you at the Pirates of Pascagoula Parks and Recreation Department.  Expect a whopping ton of fun for all who share the summer with us.  Campers will meet new mates, learn pirate games, take field trips soaked in adventure, and make memories not soon forgotten.  Come and be a part of an exciting summer which will keep you on the go while providing quality supervision in safe surroundings!

 

Camp dates are May 27-July 25th.  No camp June 30– July 4.  The hours are from 7:00 am-5:30 pm.  The location this summer will be Beach Elementary 633 Market Street.   This camp is for children 6 to 12.  The cost is only $70 for city residents $80 for non residents.  The cost includes transportation to and from field trips, admission to field trips, activities, special events, and 1 camp t-shirt.

Week 1 May 27-30:  Ready to Set Sail  During this week we will learn all about pirate life and make our own pirate laws.  We will explore the Mobile region to visit the land of the Imax and Exploreum.

 

Week 2 June 2-June 6  Jacob’s Ladder  A week filled with fun and adventures.   We will build our own treasure boxes and boullions.  See how the animals at the New Orleans Zoo climb Jacob’s Ladder. 

 

Week 3 June 9-13:  Shipwreck Island   Landlubbers be Warned!  This week will be filled with water activities.  We will construct model pirate ships.  Gulf Island Water Park will be explored this week.

 

Week 4 June 16-20:  Black Pearl  This week will be filled with social activities and fun.  Our Pirates Dance will be the highlight of this week.  Come dressed as your favorite characters (Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Captain Jack or Captain Barbosa).  Dauphin Island Sea Lab will help to increase our social bonding experience with both humans and marine life. 

 

Week 5 June 23-27:  Davy Jones Locker  Join us as we explore the fun part of being a

Pirate-the water.  There will be water relays.   The main event for this week will be a trip to our own fantasy island– Flint Creek.

 

Week 6 July 7-11:  Meeting of the Brethren Court  This week will be sports challenge week.  Each group will choose their own captain to compete in a variety of challenges through out the week.  The land we will explore this time will  be the Bay Bears homeland.

 

Week 7 July 14-18:  Dead Man’s Chest  Since this is the sequel,  we will do all the things that make for summer fun.  We’ll have ice cream sundaes, relay day and talent show. 

 

Week 8 July 21-25: At Summer Ends  Join us as we take our last stand of summer fun.  The summer will end with our pirate celebration carnival.  Waterville U.S.A. will be the last exploration point of the Pirates of Pascagoula.
